Day 7 : Thursday 15/7 - A Day of Rest

A very hot night where a wet towel used as a top sheet was the only
way to try to get cooler and hence sleep. Simple but effective!!

This morning, another clear blue sky suggested yet more high temps into
the 30s. No motorcycling planned for today. Plan to take a ferry
shuttle across the lake to Belagio - supposed to be a very beautiful
village.

At 10am, we bought a day ticket for €11 and set og for Verena and Belagio. It's around 15 minutes to cross the lake and we stayed on bought and went first to Belagio. This is reputedly a most beautiful village. Well, yes, it certainly doubtless had a charm; however today, it's solid tourism and proces and shops to match.

Returning on another ferry to Verena, this is very different being simple with some charm. Not over (over!) priced cafes serves up tasy snacks and drinks with the unforgettable views of the mountains and lake.

Tomorrow, Dave sets off for the Adriatic coast and I head north for
Switzerland and Southern Germany and then back to Calais and home. I have up to 3 days in which to cover the 1250km but, I may try for 2 days depending upon progress tomorrow crossing the Alps and my use (or
not) of motorways.

Post Script : I actually did the journey home in a day a half; such is the GT's pace !

Doesn't appear as if your restaurant meals have improved. You don't seem to be having much luck with them either in France or Italy. Hope you manage to find somewhere that's good before you get back to England!
