Trip to Scotland - Sept 2009 - the motivation

This is a motorcycle trip that I read about in the June edition of Bike magazine. The writer chose a BMW K1300S, whereas shall take my BMW K1300GT. The route I plan to take starts off, late afternoon on Friday 11th September from central London. I travel to Stoke on Trent to a B&B, mostly to break the back of the long grind up past Glasgow.

From Stoke on Trent I head for Strathyre; then the Isle of Skye; up to Tongue on the north coast of Scotland; then down to the Cairgorm mountains, Balmoral castle and down to Blairgowrie which si the end of the Scottish tour; around 500 miles.

From Blairgowrie, I shall head south stopping for the night in Leamington Spa. (Leamingto Spa ?! Yes, close by is the Autocom company who will tune my Autocom comms unit to increase the volume of my MP3 (music) and mobile phone whilst riding.

And from there I'll ride approx 165 miles home; all in all around 1600 miles, give or take :-)

Good luck John. Remember to allow time to smell the flowers... you can do that with a GS you know!

Good luck John and looking forward to reading about your trip. I hope the Calsci screen makes it more comfortable for you. Dave (not Hannah as I used my daughter's Google account)
